Taking bits and pieces from painted papers, fabric swatches and inkjet prints you will create patchwork collage art quilts layered with black and white images, expressive sumi marks and letterforms. You will be lead through fast paced monotype printing exercises to create beautiful painted backgrounds. Learn “fusion dyed” collage, freestyle lettering and doodling to unleash your creative ideas to create multiple layered collages with vibrant color, texture and raw edges.

Supply List:
• Favorite heavy bodied, fluid/ink acrylic colors
• Golden acrylic glazing medium Satin
• 8.5” x 11” Plexiglas sheet (acrylic sheet)
• 1/2 yd. Muslin or Kona cotton
• 1 yd. Heat-n-bond Lite
• Inkjet photos
• Collage ephemera/paper scraps-various colors & textures
• 15- 2-ply white paper towels (Kirkland from Costco)
• 2” flat brush (hardware store brushes work great)
• Plastic paint scrapper
• 1” foam brushes
• 2 water containers
• 1 hard rubber brayer
• 1 soft rubber brayer
• Black chisel tip sharpie
• A few favorite doodling tools-prismacolor pencils, gel pens & markers
• Scissors
• Painting smock
• Parchment paper

Optional items or suggestions to enhance the class project:
• Black & white photocopies of images/writing/journal pages/line art - sharp contrast images work best.
• Sewing machine/thread –if you’d like to do stitching I would suggest to bring your own. If not, you can also glue/fuse collages.
• Favorite unmounted stamps, stencils, printing tools
• Adjective bank/theme - brainstorm a list of words, quotes, and phrases
• Iron

Materials Fee includes: Collage Unleashed aRt! kit of papers & fabrics, Inspiration guide, collage images, watercolor paints, glitter, gel pens/markers, Fabric Fusion Adhesive, mark making tools, unmounted stamps and stencils.
